Total Run Time (or TRT) is a deciding factor but the number of location days is very important to understand also. Let assume a car dealership wants a :30 second spot. We need a day of shooting at the dealer, then maybe another day of road shots, and wait umm the customer that said they would come in on day 1 to be interviewed cancelled and needs a make up date. That’s 3 days of production. Camera Op, Gear, Producer, Production Assistant (somebody’s gotta carry this stuff!) and Gaffer/Grip. It adds up. Now lets go back to our Testimonial project. Single day shoot an office, document the office culture with footage, do interviews and poof. Done. 1 day. Now we still have to deal with editing, but you get the point.
