Video…The Eyes Of Business
Every fall the DC Chamber of Commerce holds their Chamber’s Choice Awards gala. The CCA’s represent the best of Washington business, it’s leaders and inspirational people that shape the city landscape. This years event was held at the smashingly beautiful Marriott Millennium Hotel and proved to be a wonderful evening. Part of what makes this night unique is the format. Gone are the long winded, eternal “shout outs” from the lectern. Instead, beautifully produced video vignettes of each award recipient are played out on large HD projection screen in the ballroom. Not only does this control the time management angle of the event (which the organizers love) but it allows the audience an opportunity to really understand why the award is being bestowed. These businesses and individuals all have stories to tell. There is no better medium to convey that than video. Done well, it can make audiences laugh, cry and immerse themselves in the moment. Anytime you can make a ballroom with 1500 people go silent it’s quite rewarding. That’s when we know it’s working. Silence our greatest reward.
The Long Road Home…
These video productions started back in June. With seven (7) award videos to produce, pre-production and scheduling was very important. All totaled we produced 30 minutes of original content. No small feat. The production took us from Downtown DC, to far SE and back. Along the way we learned that businesses are not just brick and mortar facades, but living breathing entities. Serving the greater good, providing jobs, entertaining, building leadership and small business advocates. All adding their brush strokes to the canvass that is DC Business. There were 7 awards in all this year.
- Business Leader of the Year
- Business of the Year
- Economic Impact Award
- Chamber’s Choice Award
- Chairman’s Choice Award
- Lifetime Legacy Award
- Chairman’s Distinction Award
Each video, a different story that ties to the fabric of DC’s business community. Being our fourth year producing these projects for the DCCC the theme of “community” really held true. There are corporations, small businesses and non-profits. Young entrepreneurs, seasoned lobbyists and board chairs all sharing the same ecosystem for the greater good. For community. For strength. For commerce… If the DCCC has become the Voice of Business in DC, then Foundation Digital Media has certainly become its eyes… Our videos give a window into their worlds. A glimpse of what’s beyond the buildings that line K Street or Capitol Hill. To see the inner workings of their life’s calling. To connect and build trust. People trust what they know and video bridges that gap in a genuine and organic way.
