Trusted Video Company
In this new era of video production a trusted video company can be key. There are many, many options available to the consumer. The advent of HD technology (and now even 4K technology) has allowed virtually any individual to pick up a DSLR and shoot reasonable looking video.
The problem with that is who do you trust? Are you hiring a professional who is leveraging technology for the benefit of the client or did you just trust a complete novice with your company brand. There are many pitfalls that go beyond just technology. With video virtually everywhere, some agencies and groups try to produce projects internally.
When executed correctly and relying on advise or consultation from video production experts, this is a terrific tactic. However, when companies try to include video production as an “add-on” service because it’s popular and use third party contractors, that’s when quality control issues arise. The results can be disastrous and the financial loss can be enormous.
Some try to do everything…
Ever go to a restaurant, look at the menu and see hundreds of choices? Some of the best businesses purposley just do a few things really well. I am often leary of agencies or firms that offer “everything”.
Turn key solutions are convenient but staring at 100 item menu should give you pause to think, “how are they doing this and at what cost to them, my business and the product I am seeking?”. The term Professional Services exists for a reason. There are craftsman and techs and yes videographers and editors that have spent years honing their crafts.
This experience and creativity is what you pay for when hiring a trusted video company or freelancer.
Ask questions of any video production company
The most important thing you can do when considering any video production company is ask questions. We’ve got nothing to hide and we’d like to earn you business. Be bold, tell them exactly what your budget is and what you want.
Show samples of things you like. Ask for references, ask if they sub-contract and where. You’d be surprised. Any trusted video company will be able to send or show you samples of their work immediately. Don’t just trust words in a blog or on a webpage. Look for samples of their video work and clients.

If fresh, updated projects aren’t available on their website, or they send you to a third party website for samples…buyer beware. Now that being said, to be fair we do use vendors and contractors within our video production industry. The difference is as professionals, we vet our specialists thoroughly.
After all it is our name and reputation that’s on the line. Everything from current equipment lists, to continuing education and workshops is a consideration. Experience matters as does trust and attention to detail. A trusted video company will always encourage you to question and collaborate.
